Lightningfur padded briskly along the edge of the fields. Eastclan scent still hung heavily on every blade of tall grass that brushed her ginger and white fur. The clear air didn't do much for her unsettled mind as she would of hoped. She raised her head above the tall grass to take in more of their new territory. The sun was beating down, making the fields glow. It was a beautiful territory but nothing like their home. Northclan didn't belong here. Even with Lightningfur's bright ginger pelt she didn't feel safe in the open. There was no where to run for cover, no shelter from the weather or predators.
Flicking her ringed tail absentmindedly Lightningfur continued to make her way through the fields of Eastclan. This wasn't clearing her mind and being in Eastclan so soon after this war made her uneasy. Northclan now. She thought through narrowed blue eyes. Everything was clear so far, though more cats would need to come help re-set the borders. The scent here was strong.
Suddenly a strange feeling pricked at her soft snow-white paws, and it wasn't the bits of grass that had been irritating her since she set paw here. Lightningfur lifted her nose into the air as high as she could manage to draw the scents over her tongue. Everything here was alien to her, but still the feeling was there. She turned to look over her shoulder through the path she had made, her pelt raised along her back with suspicion. Was she alone?
Lightningfur shook out her pelt and exhaled loudly to herself. "I'm a warrior, not a mouse!" She grumbled. It would make no sense for any cats to be hanging around here now other then her own clanmates, even so she was still fit enough to hold her own in a fight.

Cautiously, Sunstripe approached the Open Fields. He was almost certain that no NorthClan cats would be there, he thought they would have all been gone back to their home for a celebration. He just wanted to snag some prey for his Clan to give them something to eat, since the availability of prey outside the fields was scarce. He sniffed the air, angry to smell NorthClan scents. With shock he realized that some of them were new, they were already marking the territory.
"They waste no time," he meowed with a sigh. He kept his head down, trying to avoid being seen. He spotted a mouse and crouched down to try and catch it quietly. He made his move and killed it quickly, but it made a louder noise than he expected. "Foxdung." He looked around to see if he'd been seen. He didn't want his throat torn out by a NorthClan warrior, he'd already been scratched enough by their claws. |

Lightningfur crouched down into the grass when she heard the sound of prey being killed. Even with the sudden noise the kill was swift, the sound was only to be made by other cats. Cautiously she stalked towards the stranger, her eyes fully concentrating on staying hidden. Any surprise she could manage could give the advantage against a Eastclan cat looking for a quick revenge.
There! She thought as her eyes glimpsed a bright colored pelt. A tom. He gazed around, obviously aware he wasn't alone. Her tail swished back and forth behind her, she had the element of surprise on this cat. No matter how she felt about Scatterstar or the war, her sympathies wouldn't be felt by other cats. Maybe if I threaten him with other warriors, he'll just leave. It was worth a shot. Her pelt still stung from the claws and jaws of other cats.
Lightningfur bunched up her muscles and jumped out of her hiding place. "Watch out, if more Northclan cats show up, you won't be so lucky." She hissed standing tall with her pelt bristled. Now only a few fox-lengths away she fully took in the tom. He was Eastclan, his scent clung to his pelt like ice to a rock. His yellow-orange and white pelt glowed brighter then her own did. Lightningfur's blue eyes locked with his bright green. Only a scar across his eye marked his face. Lightningfur searched her mind for a time when she would of seen him during the battle. She faced so many cats that they all mixed together in her mind.
She tilted her head slightly as she studied him, dropping her tail and allowing the fur on her back to lay flat. He doesn't look so dangerous.

Sunstripe hissed when he was approached so suddenly. He thought for sure he wasn't going to be attacked, so he extended his claws. But when there wasn't a single blow laid on him, he paused to look at the she-cat in front of him. She had a dazzling fur color, and even though the scent of NorthClan was all over her, she didn't really resemble one of them. They typically had fur in browns, and grays or whites but her fur was almost as bright as the fur of an EastClan feline.
"NorthClan has what they want," he responded. "All I want is some food to ensure that our Clan survives another day. Is that too much to ask?" His ears flicked. He could almost feel the stinging sensation of the wounds that he had been given by NorthClan cats. He couldn't help but blame himself for the war sometimes. If he hadn't captured that apprentice, perhaps it never would have happened. He knew his false loyalty could have done the same thing but he never intended such devastation for EastClan. |

"No, Its not." She meowed sympathetically. She flattened her ears when she thought of what Scatterstar or Blackstorm would do to her if they found her sharing words and not claws with this tom. "This war shouldn't of happened. But I will follow my leader into the Dark Forest if he asked it." Lightningfur flexed her claws making scratches into the soft earth.
The smooth soil under her paws was another reminder that Northclan didn't belong here. Northclan was used to frozen earth, cold stones. All this sun and warmth was enough to make any cat in her clan uncomfortable. Lightningfur stole a glance over her shoulder, half expecting more warriors to pour through. She stepped a rabbit-length closer to the tom.
"Not all Northclan cats are out for blood." She added with a wave of her ringed tail. "I can only speak for myself, but I am sorry for what my clan has done, if that means anything." And she truly was sorry, but what she had said before still held true. She would never go against her leader.
Would she?

Sunstripe nodded to her. He had met many NorthClan cats in his time, and he knew how loyal they were to their leaders. They'd throw out the entire warrior code just to follow orders. "You were only acting as a true NorthClan warrior would," he meowed in reply. "I don't hold it against you personally. I blame your leader, Scatterstar. His heart is as cold as the mountains you come from, not to mention he's addicted to the thrill of victory in battle." His tail twitched at his mention of the NorthClan leader. Any EastClan cat would want to dig their claws into his pelt. |

He was in odd cat, she thought flicking her ear. Any other Eastclan cat would of already run or attacked her the minute they had a chance. Lightningfur nodded her thanks to his easy acceptance.
An idea struck her mind and she raised her tail, signaling for the Tom to stay put. Turning she bolted into the brush. Once a few lengths away from where she left him, Lightningfur scented the air. Eastclan was thick with prey in the warming days of New-Leaf. Finding the scent of rabbit was simple. Catching didn't prove to difficult either, which surprised her.
Carrying her prey tightly in her jaws, Lightningfur made her way back, hoping the sun-touched tom didn't leave. She sighed, almost dropping her catch when she saw him still there. Though she hadn't been gone to long. Lightningfur padded cautiously up beside him, brushing pelts. Dropping the prey at his paws, she gave her own a swift lick.
"It's not much, but please take it to your clan. " The motherly feelings she had always held made its way to the surface. Lightningfur was a fighter, a strong warrior, but she felt most strongly about caring for other cats.
"My name is Lightningfur" She added finally introducing herself with a brisk nod.

He looked down at the rabbit and sniffed it, then back up at the she-cat. It was so kind-hearted of her to bring that to him, it was quite obvious she wasn't like some of the icy spirited members of her Clan. He had spoken to a couple of NorthClan cats who were less about loyalty and fighting. Not every enemy Clan was filled with cats who spat venom. "Nice to meet you, Lightningfur," he meowed.
"I'm Sunstripe," he introduced himself. "I'm... a warrior of EastClan, but you probably already guessed that." He smiled and looked down at his yellow-colored paws. "I appreciate your kindness, it's not every day a NorthClan cat goes out of their way to help someone from another Clan, especially one they just fought." |

"Every cat deserves a little kindness." She meowed following his gaze to his golden paws. "No matter what clan, from the oldest Elder, to the smallest kit." Lightningfur's voice lowered slightly with sadness at the thought of a healthy litter of kits scrambling around a camp. Lightningfur didn't even have a mate, let alone being the mother to kits.
She blinked slowly, looking at Sunstripe's sharp green eyes. Now is not the time to think of things like that. His eyes locked her in. She shifted slightly, and her tail lined up against his while both their shoulders brushed. Lightningfur quickly shifted her paws again to give him space. "Sorry" She muttered slightly under her breath.

He deeply appreciated her kindness, even though she tried to seem modest about it. The rabbit would feed the weaker members of his Clan and help the ill ones recover. It didn't make up for the damages NorthClan caused to EastClan but he appreciated the gesture of the friendly enemy warrior. "That's a good philosophy," he meowed. "You should hold onto that one. Maybe pass it along to the rest of your Clan." He smiled slightly.
When their shoulders brushed he couldn't help but feel an almost electric sensation. He admitted to himself that he was a little attracted to the NorthClan warrior, but there was no way she would ever like an EastClan cat. Not with how loyal NorthClan cats were, and especially not after the war that their Clans had fought. He decided to keep his jaws clamped about it. Though Thistlestar had demanded everyone take mates... |

Lightningfur stood just watching Sunstripe. The way the sun made his pelt glow, so warm like Eastclan's home. She shuffled her paws awkwardly into the earth, wanting to be closer to him. It was strange. There were many great warriors in her own clan, but non caught her attention like Sunstripe had managed in a few moments. She looked him up and down, feeling guilty for the fresh wounds that marked him. Have I made one of those marks? She thought thinking back to the battle again. A few moments of this passed and a slightly breeze ruffled her fur. It felt good in the heat of Eastclan, almost like a chill. The breeze came again, picking up slightly. Lightningfur purposely fluffed her bright pelt and leaned against him. "Chilly" She muttered although the breeze was more of a comfort.
Her body was matched with his, and to her surprise they fit together quite well. Cats from different clans aren't so different after all. She thought leaning in slightly more. There was something about this tom that made her never want to go back to Northclan.
It was so cold there, icy and frozen. She loved it, she grew up learned how to live with the cold, use it to her advantage. Here below the mountains, where there were no trees to hide the world was so open. Neither her nor Sunstripe could see their breath, the ground wasn't frosty but warm. Warm like she felt against Sunstripe. Lightningfur felt her skin getting hot under her fur. Sunstripe made her feel warm and more content then she had in a while. Are you insane? This is an Eastclan cat! You just met him! I have been in the sun to long She thought back and forth to herself in her internal argument.

Sunstripe laughed a single laugh, almost a chuckle. "I'd think a NorthClan warrior wouldn't mind a breeze," he meowed. He somehow appreciated her press against him. He could feel the softness of her pelt. It was a poor time for treason but he couldn't seem to take his eyes off her. The warrior code said to be loyal to your clan above anything else but Sunstripe had a need to experience the company of different cats, outside of his Clan.
For some reason her kindness entranced him. She didn't have the icy heart of a NorthClan warrior, bound to loyalty without question and cold all other cats outside their Clan. She had something warm, like the warmth he felt around his clanmates. "I'm very pleased to make your acquaintance, Lightningfur," he meowed. "What brings you down from the mountains, if you don't mind sharing? I know your Clan can be secretive with their missions." |

She turned and looked away slightly, concentrated on a single blade of tall grass swinging in the wind. "Scatterstar sent me to remark the border. There are others here to, but I don't know where." Her voice was almost a whisper as if she were afraid one of her own clan would over hear them. "I needed out of camp to clear my head, so I offered to go." She turned to give a cut along her flank a few licks. Only Starclan knew which of Sunstripe's clanmates had given her that. Eager to change the subject, she pricked her ears and raised her voice slightly.
"You know Sunstripe," She meowed prodding him lightly with an extended paw "You're not so bad for an Eastclan cat!" She teased lightly with her whiskers twitching and she curling her ringed tail neatly over her paws.

His ears flicked. He figured that the NorthClan leader wouldn't even stop to take a breath or two before making sure to stake his claim in the territory he won. The worst part wasn't the fact that there was a battle, NorthClan were known for battling and EastClan had been in many territory fights and wars over the seasons. The worst part was that the NorthClan cats didn't seem to care if they killed or maimed enemy warriors, and they dealt a killing blow to Ripplestar. Even if Sunstripe didn't much care for the warrior code itself, he knew that was wrong.
Still he couldn't help but feel his ears burn at Lightningfur's compliment. "And you're not so bad for an EastClan cat," he returned. "In fact, there's something different about you. You're not like all of them." He tilted his head and stared into her pretty blue eyes. |

Lightningfur shuffled her paws awkwardly when he said that he thought she was different from her clanmates. Did he really think she was special? Did he feel what she was feeling? She found herself wishing she had been born into Eastclan instead of Northclan. Lightningfur instantly took back the thought. She was loyal to her clan and everything it did for her. Some of the cats were a little rough-edged, but weren't they all? She knew Scatterstar would have her tail for this, but she would face him willingly for the change to meet Sunstripe again. He was so similar to her clanmates, but something about him was very different at the same time.
Lightningfur tilted her head to match his. I wonder.. She thought, curious about how he saw her. Lightningfur stretched her neck out slightly and touched noses with him. Unlike their brushing pelts, she didn't pull away at first, just stood, locking his green gaze with hers. "There is something different about you too. " She added with a flick of her tail.
