Crimsonstreak hadn't even noticed that Ashcloud had moved. He'd been so focused on watching Hollowstar display her keen hunting skills, which had distracted him entirely. He didn't see the weasel-like warrior slink over to Hollowstar's catch, and swallow it quickly. However, he did turn to see Ashcloud looking positively ill.
"What's wrong?" he asked politely. He padded up behind Ashcloud, and tried to pat him on the back with his bushy tail. He tilted his head when Hollowstar began laughing at Ashcloud. He backed a while a little, sitting down in confusion, somewhat lopsided. He saw the leader mumble something to Ashcloud, and he tilted his head, his ears twisting back and forth in puzzlement.
Twisting his tail around his paws, he stared in confusion at the two cats. The more he gazed on, the more it was becoming apparent that there was some kind of quarrel between them. He couldn't imagine what could have caused the trouble. It was unfortunate to have discord between clanmates. He prayed to StarClan that it was just a simple matter, and nothing of particular importance.

Ashcloud chose to completely ignore Crimonstreak's inquiry of how he was. He was really and truthfully sick, having finished the piece of prey much too quickly. It was causing him horrible stomach pains, and making bile rise in his throat. He groaned inwardly, trying to swallow his look of discomfort.
"No, I feel just fine, Hollowstar," he replied, sneering. "I've never felt better." He tried to maintain a convincing tone to his voice, but it was just laced with him clenching his teeth in trying to bear the pain of his stomach ache.
But now Hollowstar pushed herself up in front of his face, and he let out a snarl. "I don't know what you're talking about," he answered sternly to what the leader had growled in his face. He dug his claws into the ground. "You're just being paranoid, you know that? Leave innocent warriors alone." Ashcloud knew full well he was no innocent warrior; but was really just innocent until proven guilty. |

Hollowstar, dimly aware that Crimsonstreak was still there, allowed her voice to rise above a whisper. "Innocent? Guilty until proven otherwise - that is how I see it." The she-cat pulled away from his face, wary that he would wretch any moment and began to stroll towards her rabbit. Briefly, she glanced back at the warrior she was quarreling with. "This hunting patrol is over," she muttered and lay at the rabbit with it between her paws. So much for it going back to camp. All this nonsense was making her feel famished.
"Leave or stay," she growled through clenched teeth, the last of her anger rushing out eerily calm - which made it worse. Hollowstar dipped her head to take a mouthful of the rabbit, hesitated, then looked up at Crimsonstreak. "Come and share." The rabbit was far too big for her to eat by herself and Ashcloud had already taken it upon himself to eat. Besides, she didn't share her meal with traitors.
Hollowstar didn't look back to see if he'd come, but instead proceeded to lower her head and take a bite. For a moment she savored the musty flavors, licking her jaws with a strikingly pink tongue. Her green gaze lifted from the prey to the sky. Traitors and rogues. What has this world come to? And what will become of the clans once this prophecy has been fulfilled?

Crimsonstreak was now straining to hear the words that his leader was saying, but she began to raise her voice. There was something about guilty until being proven innocent, which made Crimsonstreak tilt his head just a little. He was concerned for a moment, and then he heard Hollowstar call off the patrol.
Something's going on... but what? he thought to himself, his mind flooding with confusion. He accepted his leader's offer to eat, and padded forward to the rabbit that she had caught. He took a tentative bite, wondering if he should ask about the incident. There was a clear problem between her and Ashcloud, and he was curious as to what it was.
Cautiously, with whiskers twitching, and with obvious hesitation in his voice, he ventured forth a question, "What was that all about?" He then quickly added, "Not that it's any of my business, but I couldn't help overhearing. Are you having a quarrel with Ashcloud?" He found himself immediately regretting saying anything about it, just as the words left his mouth.

There was a stormy look in Ashcloud's deep blue eyes, as he sat there with his tail twitching back and forth. His nausea was beginning to pass, luckily for him, though he did still feel a little bit off. He watched as Hollowstar went off to eat with Crimsonstreak. They were just sitting there, side by side, enjoying the rabbit.
"Oh, but Hollowstar," he began to say, with a holier-than-thou, snark-filled tone, much as he attempted to mask it, "I thought you mentioned that our pickings would be taken back to camp to day, but here you are eating." He knew he was being hypocritical, but he couldn't help but point it out.
So there sat Ashcloud, gray and white fur swishing in the breeze, with a look of self-satisfaction on his face. He didn't know whether or not to leave at that moment, even though the hunting patrol had been declared over. He figured he'd just wait around until Hollowstar gave him a response. |

Hollowstar was picking at the rabbit more than actually eating it. As ravenous as she felt, the she-cat simply couldn't down more than a few mouthfuls. Then her ears shot forward on her head and her green, ruthless gaze fell on Crimsonstreak. "This is none of your concern, Crimsonstreak. Keep your nose out of it," she snapped rather harshly. Picking herself up and way from the half-eaten prey, tail lashing, she countered Ashcloud.
"And keep your mouth shut, you traitorous tom." One thing was clear to her as Ashcloud continued to disrespect her - he was hiding something behind the sarcasm and using Hollowstar as his target. As if it wasn't obvious enough he would probably continue to do so, ever leading him to the trap that would someday wound his mortal soul and leave him either astray or worse, put to death. Hollowstar couldn't give a mouse less. In fact, she might marvel at the sight and feast with her warriors when it came to that oh-so-wonderful day.
Her eyes never left Ashcloud and her tail didn't cease its furious lashing. All she wanted to do was find out what his secret was then give him the punishment he so rightly deserved. Then her shoulders slacked, a calm, icy expression filling her features. "Ashcloud. Be a dear and run along, will you?" Hollowstar's feline lips curled into a sweet smile, a sardonic cat full of hate lying right beneath it.

Crimsonstreak's ears went back a little. He was a somewhat hurt by his leader's harsh tone. He knew that Hollowstar could be gruff sometimes, but if there was one thing that Crimsonstreak disliked it was being snapped at. Being a somewhat sensitive tom, his feelings were naturally a bit hurt. He wished now more than ever that he'd never said anything at all.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have nosed in," he apologized quietly. There wasn't much else he wished to say, so he dipped his head. He took another bite from the rabbit and chewed it slowly.
But then he heard the talk about Ashcloud being a traitor. He tilted his head once again, but didn't look back as Hollowstar continued to speak to him. Crimsonstreak knew that cats gone traitor was just a sign of the bad times in the Clans; and if there were traitors in EastClan, that could cause the whole lot of them to fall apart.
What do I do? he thought anxiously. So much bad blood between the both of them, and now Ashcloud might be a traitor? What have the Clans come to?

As soon as Hollowstar's words hit his ears, he let out a snarl. How dare she call him a traitor? Certainly, he was, but why did she figure that. As it stood, she had very little to no proof. Not to mention she was saying this in front of Crimsonstreak, who would no doubt take every word the leader said to be absolute truth. "What right do you have to call me a traitor?" he spat.
Not too long after her first sentence, she spoke again, this time with words of false feelings, spattered in hate. He wondered if he could hold himself back to keep from attacking her. She was the leader of his Clan, after all, no matter how unloyal he was. Not to mention that if he did attack the leader, there would no doubt be severe punishment. Crimsonstreak would take off running and tell the entire Clan; that or go cower in a corner.
He lashed his tail. She told him to leave, but he stubbornly remained, growing more and more impatient with her by the second. |

//"Are you here, my love?"// called out a faint voice, frail and fragile, just barely managing to rise above the slightest hint of a squeak. The small white she-cat was hidden in the tallest grass, her round belly dragging along on the ground. She was in search of her mate, Ashcloud, whom she knew had left not too long ago. There were few warriors back at the camp, and she'd not been assigned anything to do, so she wandered into the fields. She did not wish to be separated from Ashcloud for long. He was precious to her; the only constant in her miserable life. She feared for her sanity, and she feared for her emotions without him. Her cousin, her lover, the most important cat in her life. //"Please come to me, love?"// she meowed, her quiet voice not managing to carry.
Can he hear me? She wondered.
