Her disapproval brushed away his anger like a tail raking away dry leaf litter. Silas’s hushed, condemning tone reached him, so the Maine Coon relaxed, fur flattening back to his broad shoulders.
The half-Bengal became noticeably more passive as well at the Oracle’s look. Marquis’s challenge irritated him, but he did not let his fury get the better of him. A trial run, huh? His tufted ears lay flat against his head as Orion glared back at Marquis.
“I do not take orders from either of you,” he meowed steadily while glancing at Silas. “But if the Prophetess agrees, then I will, too.” Orion turned to catch gazes once again with Silencefall. Did she feel the same connection he did? Or was he just so desperate to hear the voices again that he was betraying his own mind?

Silencefall watched Orion and Marquis calm down, both by her gaze and by Silas' words. She listened to Orion speak. She knew there was something special about him, and he needed to be there. The voices told her that he needed to be there. Even now she could hear them echoing in her ears and telling her that this cat was special and meant for something. She nodded directly at him, indicating that she wished for him to stay with them. |

Silas was pleased that Orion would be able to stay, but knew that Marquis wouldn't feel the same way. He was half expecting the half Bengal cat to jump up and claw someone's ears off. He kept his ears down just in case it was him who was going to get the beating. He turned to Orion and smiled.
"Welcome to The Silence," he meowed. "I'm sorry about all the trouble. Usually it isn't like this, but Marquis must be in a really bad mood." He shot a glance at Marquis. The other cat was in worse than a bad mood, but he didn't want anything to happen.

Marquis was in worse than just a bad mood. He was absolutely furious. He was doing his best to try to hide that fact but he was seething with rage. His claws were poking out and scratching at the cavern floors. He couldn't believe that he had been outvoted like this. Silencefall was too willing to let outsiders into the Silence - ones that could be dangerous.
He held his tongue, not wanting to say anything else but he angrily stalked off into the shadows in displeasure. Any cat could see that he wasn't happy with the outcome.

When of sound mind, Orion was an incredibly fickle cat, and to see that he was favored over the older Silence member brought him joy. A strange, twisted joy, but joy nonetheless. The Maine Coon knew he had made an enemy of the half-Bengal, but Orion could not be happier.
After Marquis had stormed off, he tipped his massive head first to Silencefall and then to Silas. “Thank you,” he meowed. “I apologize for upsetting your friend. I did not intend to cause harm by coming here.” Golden eyes glittering, he gazed over at the young Oracle. “I was lead here,” he finally began to explain, “by voices that have been whispering to me for many moons now. They went quiet as soon as I set paw here in your caverns.” He gestured to the glowing walls of the place with his raccoon-like tail. “I believe they wanted me to find you, Silencefall,” he meowed with conviction, bowing to her as low as his large frame would allow. “I wish to find answers. I am in your service.”

Thudding paws were greeting by the mews of other cats. Flint felt successful about his time with Tailchaser, no doubt worth his time. He paused as a new scent greeted him. As his eyes adjusted to the dim light he took in the other Silence members around him. All cats he knew, or had at least seen before. Silencefall was in the back and Flint lowered his head in greeting as he saw her. Nearly blocking his view of the Oracle Flint saw a huge tom, the one he scented.
"Who is this?" Flint asked with an edge in his voice. New cats were almost always welcome to help their ranks grow but something wasn't right about this cat. He eyed the stranger wearily wondering whether he had been accepted into the Silence while he was away dealing with other things. He turned to look at the others around him. Silas seemed pleased by the new cat, while Marquis seemed to be ready to kill any cat who got close enough.
Flint had missed a lot in his absence.

Silencefall listened with intrigue about what Orion had to say. How the voices wanted him to find her. She nodded to him in understanding. She believes that he had been brought to them for a reason as well, led by the voices for a purpose different than the purpose of an average Silence feline. He is not ordinary, she thought. She noticed Flint enter the room, along with a few other cats. She dipped her head towards them in acknowledgement. |

Silas turned his head as Flint entered. "Hello Flint," he said. "We've just accepted another newcomer into the Silence. We had a little bit of a... disagreement at first, but I think everything's been sorted out." He smiled at the other cat. He thought that the more the merrier. If The Silence were as big as a Clan, even better.
"Where have you been, anyway?" he asked. He didn't want to intrude but he just wanted to start up a conversation

Flint glanced at him looking from the new cat to Silas. "I was..out. Doing some business." Flint turned and dipped his head respectfully to Silencefall. She was an important cat, and the only one flint felt the need to give his full attention to at any moment of time.
"Who is he? Where did he come from?" he meowed to Silas in a lowered voice. The cat was very large, and didn't look like any of the loners he had ever seen. Flint flicked his tail irritably at the new tom. Something about this cat made his pelt prickle, but he seemed to be winning over Silencefall which kept Flint silent in her presence.

Silas didn't press for any further details about where Flint was, it wasn't his business anyway. He was a little bit suspicious but he knew that it couldn't be anything terrible. He trusted the other members of the Silence more than to suspect them of anything nefarious.
"That's Orion," he meowed. "I don't know where he came from, but Silencefall really seems to like him. She accepts him almost right away, no tests, nothing!" He tilted his head and looked back over at the Maine Coon. "I wonder if he comes from the Twolegplace, he doesn't look like any wild cat I've ever seen."

By his untrusting, emerald eyes, Orion could tell Flint liked him about as much as Marquis did. Oh well. Attention was attention, and Orion was inordinately pleased at the praise he was receiving. It was obvious to the other cats that Silencefall already favored him.
But he didn’t want Silencefall’s approval like he wanted other cats’. Silencefall was different. Something pulled him toward the young Oracle with a supernatural force he could neither fight nor explain. It took the Maine Coon a moment to realize that Silas had been talking about him.
“Ah, Twolegs?” Orion asked with a touch of confusion. “Oh, humans. Yes, I was kitted there,” he meowed, “on the other side of the mountain. I didn’t live there long. And who are you?” He had established that this place was the end of his journey, so getting to know the other cats the voices had drawn him to wouldn’t hurt.
Orion’s sharp, yellow gaze flitted between an unhappy Marquis, a skeptical Flint, and the neutral Silas. “I’m sorry, but have I disrupted something by coming here?” With some of the ill-will he was receiving, Orion wondered if he had unwittingly interfered. He wished Silencefall could address his concerns in a more direct manner, because it was her opinions that mattered to him.
