NAME:
Shadekit--Shadepaw--Shadestone
AGE:
34 moons (Born in late newleaf)
GENDER:
Tom
CLAN:
NorthClan
RANK:
Warrior
DESCRIPTION:
Shadestone is not a large cat. He is average sized in height and bulk, looking nothing remarkable. However, under his pelt he hides wiry and strong muscles, giving him an exceptional ability to jump and run and fight. (Though obviously not too exceptional. He's just a tad better than the average tom.)
His legs are of average length, though his hind legs are a bit more muscular-looking than the rest of him. His tail is fairly long, with impressive plumage for a medium-haired cat. His ears are small and rounded, and if you trail your eyes down from them, then you come to his broad forehead. A little farther down, and you will come to his eyes. They are round-ish in shape (for a cat,) and are painted a muddy green colour. Even farther down, is Shadestone's muzzle. It is a little flatter than the average cat's, but again, nothing remarkable. Going from the bridge of his nose, just below and between his eyes, a pink scar trails it's way down his face, ending in the center of his grayish nose, and taking a notch out of it as it goes.
As was mentioned before, Shadestone is a medium-haired cat. His fur puffs out a bit to a long-haired-like amount on his tail and ruff, but is mostly a uniform length. His pelt has a soft texture, and is very thick, which not only keeps the cold out, but enemy claws as well. The colour of his fur is a medium gray, with lighter gray on his belly and paws. As well, his tail is striped with a darker gray, and he has some tabby markings on his face in the same darker gray.
PERSONALITY:
Quiet||Intelligent||Rational||Conflicted||Cynical||Honorable
Shadestone is a fairly quiet tom most of the time. He doesn't speak a lot, and tends to keep his thoughts to himself. He certainly has a lot of thoughts, though. He is a fairly intelligent cat, and has strong opinions on many subjects, but simply chooses not the voice them. This is because he doesn't like arguments, and would rather that everyone just got along. Or, at least, that was how he was raised. His true feelings are slightly different, as he doesn't truly mind conflict or fighting, and would actually enjoy a good argument.
Shadestone prides himself on being a level-headed, rational cat. He keeps his cool in most situations, and even if he isn't exactly feeling very cool himself, he will put on a facade that he is completely calm. He is a good decision-maker, and usually makes his choices rationally and calmly.
Shadestone is very conflicted about NorthClan, and his loyalty. When he was a kitten, his mother raised him to be completely loyal to NorthClan, and to believe strongly in StarClan. But with everything that has happened, his faith in not only his Clan, but his ancestors, has been shattered. He still tells himself that he is loyal to NorthClan, but deep inside he knows that has not been true for moons. He would never leave his Clan, however, as it is all he has ever known, and he doesn't want to leave the resting place of his parents and his sister. As for StarClan, he desperately still wants to believe in them. He doesn't want to beleive that his sister is just... Gone. After her death, he was always comforted by the thought that she was up in StarClan, watching over him, but as his belief in StarClan was slowly chipped away at, until cracking and shattering completely, he can now longer say that he truly believes that they exist.
After loosing his faith, Shadestone became a rather cynical cat. He doesn't see the good in others, and believes that most cats are simply out for themselves. As well, he has the opinion that anycat who still believes in StarClan is either deluding themself, stupid, or both.
Though he has lost his faith and his loyalty, Shadestone is still a cat with a strong sense of honor. He no longer thinks that the warrior code is the epitomy of honor and goodness, but he has is own personal code of honor. His code includes: Do not harm kits or cats who can not protect themselves. Feed those weaker than yourself before yourself, unless they are so weak that they are guaranteed to die very soon. Do not kill another cat, unless the cat would kill you if you did not kill him. Do not lie unless it is in the best interest of everycat. The life of one cat is worth less than the life of many cats. Do not sacrifice yourself for unworthy reasons.
HISTORY:
Before birth
Shadestone's parents were two loyal NorthClan warriors- Gingerpool, his mother, and Flightstep, his father. They were a fairly average couple, with no remarkable aspects to their relationship. They had been mates for a few moons, when Gingerpool became pregnant. They both had wanted kits, so they were overjoyed at the news. And about a moon later, the kits were born...
Kithood
At Gingerpool's kitting, everything seemed to be going well. She had already had two kittens, who she named Shadekit and Brightkit. But there was a third kitten- And there were complications that came along with it. Something went wrong, and the medicine cat was unable to stop the bleeding and save Gingerpool. She, as well as the third kit, died that night. Shadekit and Brightkit were given to another queen to nurse. Their father visited them often, and so as they grew up, they knew who their father was. They both looked like him, so they never really thought about their mother. And even if they had asked, Flightfoot would be unwilling to answer them. He wasn't ready to talk about her at all, until the night before their apprenticeship ceremony. Flightfoot pulled them aside, and told them about their mother. He was fairly brief, but he told them enough so that they had a good idea of who she was and what she was like. The next day, they were made apprentices...
Apprenticeship
Brightpaw and Stonepaw were apprenticed at the age of six moons. Stonepaw was given the mentor Bearstomp, and Brightpaw the mentor Splashtail. Their mentors were siblings as well, though they were polar opposites. Both of them were good mentors, however, and the apprentices grew quite attached to their mentors. Though Brightpaw and Stonepaw had always been good friends, it was during their apprenticeship that they became best friends. They did everything together, and actually didn't really make many other friends. They just didn't see the need, when they had each other. The siblings' apprenticeship went pretty smoothly, and about seven moons after being apprenticed, they were made warriors...
Warriorhood
At the age of 13 moons, Brightleaf and Shadestone were made warriors. For several moons, their lives were uneventful. But about four moons after they were made warriors, Brightleaf began sneaking out of camp, and acting suspicious. Shadestone was curious as to what his sister was up to, and one day he followed her out of camp secretly, out into the territory. He found her by the Ice River- With a rogue! She was sharing tongues with the strange cat, and they were obviously very close. Outraged by his sister's betrayal, he jumped out of hiding. Shadestone was about to yell at her, but his appearance had startled her. She leaped backwards, right into the river, and was quickly washed away. The rogue ran off before Shadestone could question him. Shadestone told the Clan nothing of what he had seen, still loyal to his sister, and not watching to dishonor her in death.
The next day, they found Brightleaf's body washed up downstream. Shadestone acted surprised, and mourned her along with the rest of the Clan, but internally, he blamed himself for her death. He told himself that it was really the rouge's fault, for meeting her there and causing her to betray her Clan, but he knew that if he had not jumped out, she wouldn't have fallen in.
The rest of Shadestone's warriorhood has been uneventful in personal issues, though the turmoil that all cats are facing right now has not left him unscathed. When everything started going bad, he tried to retain his faith in StarClan and his loyalty to NorthClan, but as things got worse and worse, his faith finally cracked, and after the battle with EastClan, his faith shattered completely.
