PLOT SUMMARY
The story begins just over a year ago. NorthClan was having trouble with WestClan, their leader Jaggedstar constantly attempting to battle them over the tunnels that linked their territories together. EastClan battled SouthClan over land and food. And SouthClan dealt with a dividing war from within their own Clan, as a rebellion arose and the leadership was overthrown. These were the signs of lawless times. Raiders threatened the Clans and stole off with their kits in the night. Then came the final prophecy, the dying words of WestClan medicine cat Cardinaltail: "The monster strikes at midnight." Then StarClan disappeared. Now leaders are left with only one life, and cats roam the earth in torment upon their deaths.
At the same time, many cats were drawn by mysterious voices to the mountains. One cat in particular was Silencefall, a feline whose voice was forever lost at the claws of raiders. She had a deeper connection formed with the voices after an encounter with the ancient runestone. She became their Oracle, but not even she knows who the voices are or why they arrived when StarClan disappeared.
But The Silence had no true moral code, but only did as they were told by the voices. The voices whispered words of sacrifice to gain mystical force and power. They're preparing for something dark and waiting for when the Clans are at their weakest point. With battles and raids, famine and disease, and rebellion against the warrior code tearing the Clans apart, it won't be long before that time comes.
