Ghost lights flashed on and off in the distance, guiding the Oracle little by little to the place they desired her to go. Silencefall, Silencefall, we would speak with you, they whispered. They looked like lanterns or will o' the whisps bounding into the darkness of the night. The dusky brown she-cat followed their calls, but she could not reply except in her mind. Where are you taking me? There wasn't any reply. She could only wait for what they had in store for her.
A snarl like thunder roared as one of the wispy circles of light swirled and revealed the form of a cat. His eyes were full of the knowledge of ancients, a cat from far back in time. They glowed and glinted like sapphires in the light, and with each step he took to approach Silencefall, his paws made fog rise from the ground. His body was ethereal, opaque but the outline remained. "We speak face to face, Silencefall," he meowed. When he spoke, it sounded like a thousand voices put together.
He paced before her, showing the glint of fangs, a long-dead cat whose spirit roamed the Earth seeking eternal vengeance. Such was the curse of the Silence. "You have brought us sacrifice, to our runes, you have made us stronger," he meowed. "You have brought the Silence, and the time of the Clans will come to an end." Gradually other forms of cats from a long past time appeared behind him, all with glowing eyes and moving their mouths to speak the same words he spoke, like an eerie choir through the night.
"Your blood is dedication to us. You were born of the lineage of the Silence, we live within you and in the blood of only a few. We are the cats of ancient times, before our lands were defiled by the treachery of the Clans!" The voices rung out like the roar of a mighty mountain lion. "I am Dargaz, shaman of the Silence in old times. It was the ancestors of the cats of north, south, east and west who rebelled against us and slaughtered our kind. For years we have waited in darkness for the time we could drive them from the skies!" The voice finally settled into one singular voice, the voice of the shaman.
"Now that we have driven their spirits out and cast them into the abyss of darkness, we will do the same to the ones who remain, the ones who do not have our blood in their veins," he hissed. "The Clans grow weaker, and weaker and they will fall. Our numbers grow as the cats with our lineage realize their calling and return to their home. Soon the Silence will be silent no more, they will return to their home and rule through the mountains to the valley and the bay once again. A new era of life for the forgotten ones, as our monster rises from the ground to take the lives of the traitors who destroyed us!"
"Have we answered your questions, Silencefall. You are the descent of our god-king, Ansuz. She reigned for many a moon with the power of the Silence in her paws and you have her power within you. You share Ansuz's spirit. Each of you has a piece of ancestor spirit within you to guide you. This is how you were led home. We have sent to you the cat who is your voice with the spirit of Kenaz in him. Kenaz was the faithful prophet of Ansuz, speaking her will and slaughtered those who dared to disobey her. This power is yours, the Silence is yours, when Ansuz awakens within you we will speak again. Paint the stone of runes red with the blood of the innocent and you will know power beyond your wildest dreams."
The dawning sun began to rise in the distance, slowly rendering the cats of the Silence invisible. "Remember us, we were here first," Dargaz cried out as his voice faded into echoes. Then there was nothing left, no trace of the ethereal cats... nothing but silence.
