~Scarletstar~
Deep in the swamps of Westclan territory their was a disturbance. The fog swirled and the thick water rippled slightly. A rhythm. Silence, and then a small splish of a paw entering water, and then silence again. A frog croaked nervously nearby, warning the creatures of the marsh of a predator. But the animals had nothing to worry about. This predator had a much bigger prize in mind. Power.
Scarlet’s soft beautiful fur was slicked back and shiny from the marsh water, but she didn’t mind. She had gotten use the feeling of mud between her toes. Scarlet pushed silently and steadily through the reeds of the swamp, not stopping for a moment to check where she was. She had memorized this area of the swamp long ago, after making such frequent visits here. She was nearing her destination, the Westclan camp. She stopped, letting the relative silence of the marsh wash over her. Then she slowly, but confidently walked into the camp.
As Scarlet entered the camp she swung her head around, taking in the sites. Her presence, cold and icy, seemed to draw all the air out of the campsite, leaving nothing but her. She stalked silently through the camp then, bunching her legs slightly, she gracefully leaped up onto a tall log where she could see the whole camp. “Westclan,” she spoke, her voice cutting through the silence like a blade, “For to long you have gone without leadership. Your honor has fallen away and soon their will be nothing left of you. So, I have a proposal. Let me be your leader, and I will restore the honor that Westclan deserves.” she smirked slightly, but it was gone in a moment, her face returning to stoney calm. “Give me an answer Westclan.” She stood, proud and tall on the rock, and watched what would soon be hers.

Eyes flashing, Thrushwing let out a growl as the rogue approached the camp. She didn't make any violent moves, though, as Scarlet strode towards the middle of the camp. She listened to the cat speak, and followed along with her words. It was true, WestClan had been long without a leader, or a deputy. She had been thinking about stepping up, but she was concerned for a power struggle.
When Scarlet finished her speech, Thrushwing looked up at her through the depths of her blue eyes. "Does the rogue know how to lead a Clan? Does the rogue know our traditions?" she asked. Her voice was not challenging, but questioning. "A Clan will need a deputy. A strong, capable cat with a warrior's heart. I, Thrushwing of WestClan, propose that I be the new deputy of WestClan."
She knew that the medicine cat of the Clan would most likely have to approve something like this. When there was no leader or deputy, there was usually one chosen, or a sign was given. She hadn't heard anything from Ravenspirit on the matter yet. She knew that the medicine cat would certainly have to be consulted about it, though, just to make sure that it was StarClan's wish to have Scarlet be the leader of the Clan.

[bg=black][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true]RAVENSPIRIT: WESTCLAN MEDICINE CAT
The indigo eyes of the medicine cat flashed as she looked out from her den. She ran her tongue across her glistening white teeth. So her Clan had come to this... a rogue with no connections to them, waltzing in like she owns everything. She knew she should have chosen a leader sooner, to avoid something like this. The only trouble was that she'd never received a sign from StarClan, so she didn't know who was to be the new leader.
She saw Thrushwing vying for the position of deputy. That was well enough to be expected. She slunk out of the den. Despite her youth, she was trying to make it certain that there would be no replacing her as medicine cat, and that she still had the final say on who would get to be the leader of the Clan.
"Rogue," she meowed loudly. "What authority do you have to come in here like this, and try to take our Clan? Have you experienced any dreams that have sent you here?" Maybe even if she hadn't experienced any dreams from StarClan, at least the rogue might have. |

Scarlet watched as the clan cats began to emerge. One by one they came out of their dens, looking up at her with puzzlement. One cat, a she who called herself Thrushwing, stepped forward and began to speak. Scarlet listened to Thrushwing’s proposal with interest, although it wasn’t visible on her face. “As appreciate your idea Thrushwing, and if you decide to let me stay I will see that it goes through.” she mewed, her face hard and expressionless. Inside, she was relieved that at least somebody seemed to be giving her a little support. “So good so far.” she thought. She turned her icy gaze onto the other cat, who also began to speak. There was a moment of silence after the she-cat finished. Scarlet quickly thought through her options. “If I tell them I haven’t received a message, they may not except me. But if I lie and tell them I did well...... it seems these medicine cats always have a way of finding out.” She thought bitterly. Even though she was a rouge, Scarlet fully believed in the powers of Starclan. She had heard stories of how leaders of clans were gifted with nine lives, and that if you didn’t have the permission of Starclan and tried to take over, you wouldn’t receive the nine lives. The silence was drawing longer, and Scarlet knew if she didn’t say something soon her chances of finding a permanent home would be gone. “I assume you must be the medicine cat. If your asking if I have received a message from Starclan the answer would be no.” For a moment her cold and calm demeanor almost cracked, revealing her nerves. She steeled herself for what was coming next. “What is your name medicine cat?” she demanded, fixing her hollow gaze on the she-cat bellow.

Thrushwing stared on. She knew that the only way she could possibly get to be the deputy of the Clan was to let this rogue stay. She nodded, looking back up at Scarlet. "You have my support, as long as you guarantee my position," she meowed, her voice unwavering. This was almost like some kind of a business deal. She could only hope that this kind of takeover didn't result in the terrible rebellion that SouthClan went through.
When Ravenspirit, the elusive medicine cat, came out of her den, Thrushwing felt a little threatened. If she didn't decide that Scarlet was a fit leader, then Thrushwing might have to continue her life has a warrior and never advance in rank. She growled. She listened to the exchange, as Ravenspirit asked if Scarlet had received any dreams from StarClan. When the rogue answered negatively, she shook her head. You should have said that you did, she growled internally. She hoped that Ravenspirit wouldn't deny WestClan the chance to have a leader again.

[bg=black][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true]RAVENSPIRIT: WESTCLAN MEDICINE CAT
The young medicine cat stood, paws solidly on the ground. She usually kept to herself so much, that she was surprised when she was able to summon a more commanding tone and posture. She wondered if StarClan were giving her the strength to make this decision. The pause that the rogue had given wasn't a strong indication of anything positive to her.
When told that the rogue hadn't received any sign from StarClan, she dismayed. What kind of medicine cat was she if she didn't have a connection to StarClan, and they seemed to have all but abandoned WestClan? But the rogue did happen to know about medicine cats, which was hopeful. Maybe she'd heard enough stories. Maybe she was the right leader.
"I am Ravenspirit, and I am the medicine cat of WestClan," she responded. "If you are to become the leader, I must deem it so. What do you have to offer us, and what do you know of our customs?" |

Scarlet listened as Thrushwing agreed to support her as long as she would be deemed deputy. “I’ll have to earn her trust quickly if I hope to remain here.” Scarlet noted to herself. She then turned her attention to the medicine cat, who didn’t seem completely against Scarlet’s leadership either. The small flame of hope in Scarlet’s chest grew slightly. “What I can offer you is a chance to restore the honor of your clan. Westclan should become the strong and prideful clan they once were. If you don’t act soon the other clans are going to take advantage of that and start stealing your prey. I can provide the leader you need to keep this clan alive.” Scarlet paused, slowly blinking her eyes. “As for your customs, I don’t know them all. I know that kits begin to train to become warriors at six moons old, and they take on the label of paw. I know that you as a medicine cat communicate with Starclan to protect your clan. I know that it’s the warriors job to patrol your borders, which is something you need to work on.” Scarlet remembered how she was able to slip into the Westclan territory and live their for moons without being discovered.
“Where are your clan mates Ravenspirit?” she questioned, slightly concerned. If there wasn’t enough clan members she couldn’t make this work.

With all the commotion, Sharpfang stuck his head out of the elder's den to see what was going on. Some rogue was trying to take over. Go figure, he thought grumpily to himself. WestClan hadn't had a leader since his half brother, Lonestar, had died. It was about time they had a new one, but there was just something he didn't trust about rogues.
It was really all up to Ravenspirit in the end. Maybe this rogue had been chosen by StarClan, and there had been some kind of sign about it. It wasn't up to them to argue against StarClan, or the medicine cat of their own Clan. He certainly couldn't, if Ravenspirit said so. Still, he wandered outside of the den to get a better look at what was going on.

Westclan Warrior The silvery-grey she-cat pads gracefully out of the warriors den, her opaque white eyes scanning over the cats that gathered. As usual, her expression supressed a small smirk. Her pawsteps silenced, Willowleaf made her way to the group of cats, and stood before the rogue who wished to become leader. "Does the rogue have a name?" she says coldly, an edge of a hiss. One thing she truely hated was when a rogue or loner joined a clan. But becoming their leader? Her eyes were cold and harsh, a brutal aura about her. Did this rogue have the right to just waltz in and try to take over a clan? Thrushwing seemed happy about it, as long as she became deputy anyways.

The orange pointed she-cat frowned at Ravenspirit's lack of willingness to accept Scarlet as a leader. She almost wished she could silence the medicine cat's tongue. She could just as well speak for the Clan. She'd heard that Ravenspirit had never even spoken to StarClan, not to mention that the medicine cat was still under suspicion for what happened to Cardinaltail.
"Would you be quiet?" she murmured disrespectfully to the black and white medicine cat. "Just let what happens happen." She desperately wanted to be the deputy. She hoped that Sharpfang and Willowleaf would be more willing to let Scarlet take over the Clan.

[bg=black][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true]RAVENSPIRIT: WESTCLAN MEDICINE CAT
She was somewhat impressed by the knowledge that Scarlet had of the Clans. She looked down at her paws. Could it really be that WestClan was meant to be led by a rogue? She almost couldn't process that kind of idea. She shook her head. Scarlet had a point. They couldn't go on without a leader for much longer.
When asked where her Clanmates were, she looked around. Many of them were out hunting, but a few of them had poked their heads out to see what was going on. "They're fulfilling their duties for the Clan, most of them," she replied. "As for your proposal, give me a moment to consider it. I do recognize our need for a leader, but the circumstances are... unfavorable." |

"You may take as long as you like Ravenspirit." she said calmly, watching the medicine cat think. It all depended on Ravenspirit now, so Scarlet knew she shouldn't make an enemy of her. She turned calmly, addressing the angry she-cat who asked for her name. "My name," she mewed pausing, "Is Scarlet." She didn't like the way the she-cat acted. She glared coldly down at the pesky cat, her eyes full of icy menace. "And what about you? What's your name she?" she hissed the word she, her tail lashing slightly. She would need to be able to control her clan so she might as well start showing her authority now.

"How nice of you to ask, Scarlet. I am Willowleaf, one of the few clanborn cats that remain alive." she hisses back at the rogue, her tone cold and harsh. "I have no say in whether this rogue," she emphasizes the word rogue, "Becomes leader or not. It is up to Starclan. I will voice my opinion though." the shaded silver she-cat turns to the clan, "Do we want to end up like Southclan? So weak that we allow a rogue to take over? It is not right! One thing we do not need is more rogue blood in the clans. These clans were based on the pure clanborn cats, but we've became too soft-hearted now. I don't know about you, but I don't want to take order from a rogue who thinks she can just waltz in and take over our clan. Where is our pride? The other clans will surely see this as a sign of weakness!" Willowleaf yowls, standing up straight, her claws flexing.(Do not take this post personally. I think Scarletstar is a good choice to be the leader. But Willlowleaf has a different opinions. Just again, please do not take this personally.)

Feeling a change in the atmosphere, Viperheart pushed her head through the entrance of the warriors' den. Her limbs were tired - she'd only had a few hours of sleep, and even before that she had bee training all day to get strong. She was pleasantly muscular now, but it wasn't enough - she had to be the greatest warrior that WestClan had ever seen, not just a cat with a good physique.
It only took her a few moments to catch up on the conversation; from the defensive stances of a few of the cats, she could tell that someone unwelcome had come here. Then again, a few of the cats looked uncertain - one in particular, a cat she recognised as Thrushwing, looked positively thrilled. If the stranger was launching an attack, things around the camp would be a lot more frantic . . . but no, there was still peace here, even though it was mixed in with a good bout of hostility.
It was time for her to make her move; no point holding back. The Clan could see how strong she was, how fierce she was - how she was a warrior who would fight the stranger off if the Clan required, and accept them with open arms if the will of the Clan leaned that way. Fondness for WestClan? No, she had none - but the support of a group of cats would do her great favours when it came to her future.
"So, you come to claim the leadership of the Clan, do you?" she questioned loudly, strolling out of the den with the air of a sovereign, not a simple warrior. She needed to look as if she owned the place, or she wouldn't be convincing; she wasn't aiming to be leader or deputy, but she wanted to be respected as the tough warrior she had grown to be. She trained for hours daily, hunting, running, fetching . . . her muscles now bulged from underneath her pelt, beginning to look quite unfeminine. She didn't care, however; this wasn't about being attractive. This was about being a battle machine.
Time to see what this stranger was made of. "I have nothing against rogues - they have a certain . . . softness to them, which I think is quite adorable." Ah, it was such fun to tease! "It's all very well for you to come here, claiming you know all about Clan life and that you can help us - but a weakling could not help WestClan even if they spat magical rainbows of peace and joy."
She prowled around the camp slowly, enjoying this short amount of time she had to speak. She was determined to make a show out of it; this stranger had to know from the start that she was strong. "If you're weak, then I think I speak for all of us when I say you should leave. That only matters if you're weak, though . . . and there's one way to prove if you are or if you aren't." Viperheart unsheathed her claws, only too ready to leap into action. If the stranger was willing to stick up for herself and prove her honour, then a fight would be the perfect solution; if, however, she was one of those soft cats who believed in talking rather than fighting, Viperheart would play no part in this takeover. She would rather die than take on a soft life where strength meant nothing.
"Go on, stranger," she encouraged, eyes flashing; just a little more taunting, and the stranger might just give in. "Show me what you've got. Show me if you've got the strength to be a warrior!"

Willowleaf’s speech had little effect on Scarlet’s mood. Of course she had known when she planned this that it was going to be hard for the clan cats to except her. She watched as Willowleaf ranted on about clanborn blood and how rouges were soft. She blinked slowly, then addressed the she-cat. “Your concerns are irrelevant Willowleaf. I wouldn’t be tainting the clanborn blood just by being here.” she mewed, looking down calmly. She had never wanted to take up a mate, not after what her father did to her. She would much prefer to be alone. Her thoughts were beginning to drift dangerously when a new she-cat stepped forward. She was muscular and aggressive. She’ll be a fierce warrior if I can pull this off. Scarlet thought. She listened to more about rouges being soft, something that perplexed her. If anybody the clan cats would be soft. They have support from each other and a permanent home. Rouges are always alone and constantly on the move. I have a feeling these pampered cats don’t know anything about the way of a rouge. The only problems they have are during sicknesses, since there are so many of them grouped in one place. this thought amused her slightly, though it didn’t show on her face. When the she-cat asked for a fight, Scarlet got irritated. This she-cat obviously had the upper hand strength wise. The only thing Scarlet could do was be fast and smart and hope for an opening. But she couldn’t back down now. “Very well warrior.” she mewed, leaping down off of the log. She landed with a graceful silence, and looked up at the warrior with her slitted icy eyes. She unsheathed her claws and made her move. She darted forward with surprising speed, but instead of darting to the side at the last second like most cats would, she rammed shoulder first into Viperheart’s chest, knocking her down. She took the opportunity and bit down hard on Viperheart’s shoulder muscle, an easy target since it was so large. She pulled and shook her head, trying to cause as much damage as she could.
