Snowflower padded silently beside the river. Though it was an extremely hot greenleaf day the river was probably still freezing. She paused and glanced at it before taking a few steps closer to the edge and then, after a few seconds of thought, fearlessly jumped onto a rock that was a mere tail-length from the bank. She dipped her paw into the rushing water that was dangerously speeding by and found that, as she suspected, it was still freezing. ‘It is, after all, mountain water…’ she thought to herself. She considered jumping back onto the bank and continuing her patrol through the territory but decided against it. The young deputy had already set the patrols for the day and they would be by soon. At least she hoped they would be, if they were doing their jobs.
Snowflower maintained her position on the rock. The cold around her was chilling the rock she was sitting on, giving her a chance to cool off and rest. She bent down and gave her chest a quick lick as she gazed down the river. It was a hot and dreary day that she had decided to make her patrol through the territory. All she had been on recently were hunting patrols and Snowflower, though she was an average skilled hunter, didn’t like hunting much. It was to dull. Not like fighting a challenging enemy. Of course, Snowflower wasn’t blood thirsty, she merely liked doing was she was best at. Hunting was to… routine… ‘Yeah, that’s the word… routine…’ she contemplated to herself. Tigerslash prowled down towards the ice river, his dark gray tabby fur shadowed by the peaks of the mountains that loomed above. The water that rushed by, filling the air with noise, came from lakes all the way on the top of those peaks. He could hardly believe it himself. The water would have to have traveled for so long. His deep amber eyes spotted the deputy of the Clan, and he let out a meow of greeting.
"Hello, Snowflower," he meowed. "What brings you down to the river?" He assumed she was out on hunting patrol, but he wanted to make sure before he said anything else about it. He had also gone down this way to look for food. Sometimes fish swam in the calmer parts of the river, but it was still dangerous to try and catch one. He'd tried once and nearly fallen in. He didn't want to drown in that icy, cold water.

Snowflower scented another cat approaching, ‘Tigerslash.’ she recognized the scent of her fellow clan mate. She glanced up at the mountain peaks before turning to greet him. “Tigerslash.” She greeted warmly, nodding to him before jumping back over the rushing water to the river bank. She turned her gaze back to the ferocious rushing waters, “It’s beautiful isn’t it? In its own fierce and almost livid way….” she asked thoughtfully, though the question was really addressed to no one. Her head was still filled with whatever train of thought she had been following earlier.
Snowflower pulled herself quickly from her thoughts and turned back to her fellow warrior. “Just doing a light patrol, checking for foxes and such, maybe some hunting while I’m out for air. I’ve been organizing patrols all day.” She answered in a warm and friendly tone. “What about you?” she asked. She always tried to be casual with her clan, she didn’t want to be gawked at and have her warrior freeze and wait for orders at the sight of their deputy. She liked to have a working system, not a dictatorship run by leader and deputy.

He watched the rapids along with her, admiring them. They certainly were powerful, sweeping everything out of the way that got in front of them. When she asked her question, he figured it to be rhetorical, so he sat there in calm thought until she addressed him.
"I came down here to see if I could catch anything," he replied. "There's fish in the river if you really go looking for them. I know that a few times, some of the warriors have caught some." He scanned the shore of the river to see if there were any calm places where trout had become lodged. "Would you like to try to catch some with me?"
