He couldn’t quite bring himself to believe that all of these other cats had been blessed with the same voices he had been. ”Join you?” he meowed skeptically. ”And do what, exactly?”
Manipulating these cats to get what he wanted was not Orion’s objective. All the Maine Coon desired was the knowledge that the many moons he spent blindly wandering the mountains, following whisperings in his head, would not go to waste. He wanted to hear the soft murmurings again; he wanted to hear their sweet promises, and to make them proud of him and his actions.
Orion would do nearly anything to make that happen again.
”Fine,” he grunted after a long moment. He glanced sharply at Marquis, then back to the smaller tabby. ”Take me to see this prophetess.”

"Join us and do as the voices ask," replied Silas. There were various things they could do in the Silence. They were almost like a Clan, except clearly with a much more important existance... at least in the eyes of the Silence cats themselves. He was relieved when Orion asked to speak with Silencefall.
The prophetess, their oracle, she would know what to do. She would just have to find a way to express what she wanted them to do. "Alright, follow me," he meowed. He turned a wary head to Marquis, hoping that the half-bengal cat would not try to stir things up once again.

Marquis glared. He did not want to give a chance to this wandering large cat who had just stepped into their territory. He knew that Silencefall would be more merciful, perhaps letting Orion into the Silence without any concern for what would happen if she did.
He grumbled to himself all along the way to go and see the oracle. One of the days he was going to take over. One of the days he was just going to kill Silencefall and take control of the entire cult. No one could stop him if they tried, or so he thought. "Silencefall?" he growled. "A stranger wants to see you."

The snow from outside that had accumulated onto his thick Maine Coon coat had long since melted. The massive tabby shook his fur free of the moisture and followed after the two cult cats. Anticipation crawled along his spine as he padded behind Silas and Marquis. He felt as if his long journey of wandering with nothing but the voices as his guide was finally gaining some kind of purpose.
The idea sent excited tremors through his pelt. Orion held his head up higher, unable to hide the grin that stretched his jaws wide. His grin faltered slightly at Marquis’s use of the term “stranger,” but the half-Bengal was not wrong, so Orion couldn’t say anything. It was obvious enough Marquis was unhappy with Orion’s arrival. Instead, the Maine Coon pulled ahead of the grumbling cat. He was eager to meet this prophetess that understood the murmurings of the voices.

Silencefall sat with her thin brown tail curled around her paws. Her gray eyes were solemn as she basked in the mysterious light of the caverns. She had already known that there was a stranger in their midst. The voices had informed her of his coming ahead of the time. She waited for the cats to approach. She was wary of Marquis and his was, and had been warned of his behavior. Silas could be trusted, at least. The cat they had between them must have been the cat she was told about. She dipped her head. She couldn't speak, but she let her body signals say that he was welcome there. |

Silas approached Silencefall and dipped his head. It seemed as though she had been expecting them. It wasn't a surprise to him, he knew that the voices spoke to her about things before they happened. She was their oracle after all, and thus she had to know about the future. He spoke to her. "I know you probably already know this," he said. "But we have brought a new cat to you."
"This is..." He couldn't remember the cat's name, or if he had introduced himself at all. He stood there, trying to think if he knew it or not. He finally gave up. "The newcomer," he finished. He flicked his tail in the direction of Orion.

Marquis was displeased by the way things were going. No doubt Silencefall would be perfectly fine with the outsider who had come to them. Normally cats who came to the Silence did not threaten him like this, but he just felt like something was off about this. It was probably just first impressions. He narrowed his eyes.
"He's somewhat violent," he pointed out, sneering in the direction of Orion. "We almost had to fight with him, but by some miracle Silas managed to talk him down from it all." If you ask me we should just tell him to leave right now. The half Bengal snarled to himself.

The lighting was so abnormal, and Silas and Marquis were blocking him from getting a good look. A hot flash of anger pulsed in his chest at Marquis’s accusations. If anything, it was the half-Bengal that was still more than ready to tear Orion’s throat out. The Maine Coon’s earlier aggression was the cause of grief and confusion. His mind was still now, his sanity stable for the moment.
He finally locked gazes with the oracle’s strange gray eyes. A bizarre ripple passed through his body, standing his fur on end. He was suddenly aware of what felt like another muffled presence in his mind, exactly like when the voices would speak to him. But only a heavy, saddening silence followed. Stricken, he paused for a long moment—surely long enough for the others to notice—before he shook out of the trance.
His eyes cleared to their usual vivid yellow and his fur lay flat. “I go by the name Orion,” he meowed. He padded forward. “Although I’m sure you know that already.”

[bg=gray][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true]Silencefall -
Silencefall dipped her head to Orion. The voices had told her his name. They said he would serve some purpose, though it was cryptic, and she did not know what he was there for. She noted Marquis' hostility towards him. Marquis was not a cat who could be trusted. This newcomer, why is he important? she wondered. She wished she could converse with the cat. If only he could hear me, maybe he has answers. She jumped down and approached, eyes glimmering with curiosity. |

Silas watched as the exchanged occurred, noting to remember the newcomer's name as Orion. Silencefall seemed intrigued, though she couldn't exactly express if she was or not. He watched her eyes, and then looked back at Orion. He could see how irritated Marquis was about the whole affair.
"I think it would be a good idea for him to join the Silence," meowed Silas. He knew this would infuriate Marquis, but he felt as though he should welcome the large cat into their ranks instead of trying to send him away. They almost never turned down any cat for any reason.

Marquis lashed his tail in anger and narrowed his eyes. It looked more and more likely that they were going to let this outsider into the Silence. He could see how Silencefall watched Orion. It was obvious that there was something she saw in him. Maybe he was of some use to her. He didn't know. He just knew that he didn't like it.
His head snapped up when Silas advocated for Orion. "I disagree," he hissed. "I think he may be a threat to the wellbeing of our group. He is not one of us." He was lying through his teeth. He knew the voices brought Orion which meant he had a purpose. He just also knew that he couldn't let a stronger cat get in his way.

As she came closer, his ears rang as if bees were buzzing about his head, the volume of it all impossible to ignore. Again, the other presence brushed against his mind questioningly, as if it wasn’t sure what it was doing, either. Orion tried to will the signal to become clearer, to open his mind to the other presence, but to no avail.
The massive Maine Coon spared a glance towards Silas. He nodded at the tabby’s words. “I would like to stay here,” he meowed, pointedly not mentioning anything about officially joining their cult. Marquis’s allegations cut through Orion as sharp as any set of claws. A deep growl rumbled in his throat, and he spat, “Not one of you, am I? Is that because I am a threat to the group, or a threat to you?” Orion felt the madness pulling at his sanity. The corners of his vision began to bleed red as the fury built.

[bg=gray][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true]Silencefall -
Silencefall did not want a fight to break out amongst the cats in front of her. She couldn't tell them to be quiet so she stood up and the fur on her body bristled. She glared at Marquis and indicated that he should leave. She wanted Orion to stay with them, there was something about him that she knew that she needed. She stared at him and dipped her head, indicating that he may stay with them if he wanted to. |

Silas' fur bristled at the tension in the air. He thought for sure that Orion and Marquis were going to have a battle right there. That was the exact thing he had been trying to avoid. He held his breath and hoped for the best. He saw how displeased Silencefall looked that the cats might battle and hoped that her expression of disappointment would be enough to stop them.
"What are you doing?" he hissed quietly. "Both of you, we're in front of the oracle. We should be respectful in her midst, she's our leader after all."

Marquis hissed and dropped down into attack position, as though he were ready for the large cat to run at him. He saw the disapproval in Silencefall's eyes, and then Silas' words. He didn't want to seem like a traitor, he just didn't want Orion to stay with them. He gave up and relaxed, taking back on his calm demeanor.
"Fine," he spat. "How about we give the outsider a trial run? Let him stay here for a little while and see how he behaves, and if he is a threat to our group, we send him away." He glared at Orion.
