As Snowpaw charged outside of the den, Kestrelclaw was proud of the young apprentice, her wits where that of a panther; and she was brave to call out to Eastclan whilst Northclan where biting at our feet.
Her apprentice was indeed correct, the only way for both the clans to not get anything fatal was to kill Scatterstar; there was enough warriors here to tear out 50 lives let alone 9. The only problem was if the cats would actually listen to her, hopefully maybe some Northclan cats would agree with her that they didn't want this fight to happen; fat chance.
Kestrelclaw swerved around toward Ashcloud, examining the injury closely. It was going good, it was healing pretty fast and the poison was completely out of the system. She beckoned with her tail for Ashcloud to stand, so she could see if he could walk steadily.

Scatterstar was impressed with just how well his NorthClan warriors were handling the situation. They seemed to be working well as a team to slaughter or drive out the EastClan cats. He hid in the tall grass, taking care to cover his scent. The last thing he wanted was any EastClan cat finding him, because he knew he only had one life to spare, like all the other leaders.
He could only hope that they could get to Ripplestar before the EastClan warriors could get to him. He thought he heard his name shouted, so he cringed deeper into the grass. His warriors knew their orders. He had planned this strategy well. The ambush on EastClan was successful at least, and NorthClan had the advantage for the time being. He could only hope that the tide would not turn against him.

Owlflight barely escaped the claws of another EastClan warrior. As she tried to nurse her bleeding paw, she heard a strong voice call out.
”Cats of EastClan! We have to find Scatterstar! Find him and we chase them off!”
Snowpaw! What a brave, brave cat she was. A medicine cat apprentice was not suppose to take sides but if your clan was being threatened, what else are you to do?
And speaking of Scatterstar...where was the NorthClan leader? He started this war and the least he could do was take part in it. Owlflight knew he was probably searching for the EastClan leader. Come to think of it, she hadn't seen him either. She spotted Bluestripe tussling with the EastClan deputy Thistlestripe but the leader was no where to be seen.
How long was this to go on and how long could both Clans last?

Poisonthorn was startled by Snowpaw's threat. He knew that the cats of NorthClan would have to protect their leader one way or another. He looked up, trying to peer over the grass, but he couldn't see Scatterstar. He hoped that the leader had hidden himself well enough. Without Scatterstar, the clan would be lost, and Blackstorm would not make a good leader.
Blackstorm would probably be even worse than Scatterstar. He rushed, trying to find a NorthClan warrior to talk to. He spotted Fishbone. "Did you hear that? What should we do?" he asked in an urgent voice.

Crowbone was unimpressed with the apprentice in front of him. His fur bristled. "Get out of here, do you really want to die like your clanmate?" he spat. He narrowed his eyes and unsheathed his claws. Though the apprentice's claws did sting, it wasn't enough to deter him from trying to fight.
Mossfire's interference was pathetic to him. Can't EastClan keep their queens out of the battle? he thought. He reached out to try to strike Hawkpaw on the ear, at least to get him to run away. He didn't know what to do about Mossfire. He didn't want to hurt a queen, but she was a threat.

Hawkpaw attempted to pull back, but felt Crowbone's claw catch the tip of his ear. A few drops of blood hit the ground, unnoticed by the young tom. "I would die for my clan, would you be willing to do the same?" He spat, giving the tom an accusing glare.
Hawkpaw's ears pricked to the words rising above the battle about finding the Northclan leader. It was his sister! Hawkpaw dared to glance up at her, and he was right. Snowpaw had called the clan to find Scatterstar, but he could be anywhere! He turned quickly back to Crowbone. Although Mossfire wanted to fight she would do no good carrying kits like that, he had to protect her!
Hawkpaw felt a stinging in his newly torn ear but that was nothing to the scars he expected to gain from this fight. "You don't belong here! This territory is useless to you, you're nothing but crow-food!" he spat attempting to swipe at the tom again.

Fishbone saw the anxious looks Lightningfur was sending his way, and, in spite of the fact that war was rampant around him, he felt shame burn his skin. He didn’t want Lightningfur, one of his few friends, to think he was a bloodthirsty killer, but what could he do? He threatened the EastClan warriors with death because it was obvious the proud EastClan cats would never give up their territory until they were all dead or ordered to retreat.
The white-striped tabby was pulled out of his thoughts by the call to find Scatterstar by the tiny EastClan apprentice. Fishbone glanced at Poisonthorn when the tom ran up to him not soon afterwards. Poisonthorn’s questions startled him. Why would the dark tom be asking him these questions, and not Blackstorm? Craning his neck over the scuffling cats, Fishbone spotted the NorthClan deputy and other warriors in battle with a number of EastClan cats. Maybe Poisonthorn trusted Blackstorm’s judgment even less than he did.
“We have to find Ripplestar first,” Fishbone meowed after a moment. “If we can’t, then we protect Scatterstar. Whether we approve of this war or not, Scatterstar is still our leader. He was chosen by StarClan to lead us.” Like most cats, Fishbone was completely unaware that Scatterstar and the other Clan leaders had never been approved by StarClan at all. “Ripplestar is our priority.”
Fishbone bounded up to Lightningfur, who was only a few paces away from him and Poisonthorn, and repeated what he said. He felt strange telling someone else what to do, but in their blind frenzy to overtake the camp, NorthClan had lost sight of their main objective; Ripplestar.

Lightningfur turned hissing at Fishbone, but stopped when she realized who it was. Listening against the yowls of the battle she nodded eagerly to Fishbone. "You're right. Whether this is right or wrong we have to make sure they don't get to Scatterstar"
Lightningfur craned her ginger neck to try and spot either of the two leaders. Scatterstar was no where to be found, which was good for now. But where was Ripplestar? Lightningfur hissed to herself as she turned back to Fishbone and Posionthorn, "Where do we even start?" She asked sending glances over her shoulder in case an angry East clan cat decided to attack.
Snowpaw's call was sure to get the East clan cat's more organized and that would be trouble for all of her clan. This battle wasn't right, but they would all need to fight to defend themselves at least even if some of them refused to fight for their clan.

With a heart pounding faster than ever before, Cobratail thrust himself into battle. It was true, he'd spent most of it hiding in the bushes, wondering when it would be right to strike and quietly fearing for his safety - but now he had buried his fears beneath his determination to fight for Scatterstar. Even though his leader's intentions were questionable, he would throw himself into the fray without hesitation; he could be the difference between a loss and a win for NorthClan!
He had heard it all - the call of Snowpaw, particularly - and was now prepared to defend his Clan with his life. Well, perhaps not his life; he rather valued his existence, despite how dire it could be occasionally. Some cats were purposefully neglectful of him, and his mental list of friendships was rather bare. Nevertheless, he would soldier on into battle and hope that his attempt at bravery might gain him some new appreciation, from his Clanmates or even from those of EastClan.
Darting round cats of all shapes and sizes, each one throwing themselves into the war wholeheartedly, he finally spotted an EastClan cat trying to shrink out of the shadows. Got you! Thrusting himself towards the lithe she-cat, he struggled to get hold of her tail, and bit it - he watched with satisfaction as she darted into a cluster of bushes, but didn't dare to follow her. So long as she didn't see who had injured her, he was safe from attack; security was all he really longed for, and so battle was really not an ideal place for him.
He turned to see a group of NorthClan cats gathered together, and decided to move towards them - perhaps there was a new development in battle, other than the one just announced by Snowpaw. He recognised Lightningfur immediately, and called out to her as he approached. "What are we supposed to do?" he asked her and the NorthClan cats gathered around her. He identified Poisonthorn and Fishbone, and couldn't stop himself from thinking of how disconcerted they look with Snowpaw's announcement.

Eclipsesun was halted by the announcement that EastClan was out to get NorthClan's leader, Scatterstar. His fur bristled. They had been sent to kill Ripplestar, the reverse was not supposed to happen. He dug his claws into the ground in fury. He saw a few of the NorthClan cats gathering around to make a plan. He decided to join them.
"We have to stop them from getting to Scatterstar, we need to keep them busy and away from him," he growled. Even the NorthClan cats who doubted their leader could realize that without him the Clan was in danger. Blackstorm was not the strategist and planner that Scatterstar was, and could not provide the same level of protection.

Fishbone glanced around at the NorthClan cats assembled before him. A strange sensation prickled his paws when he realized that they were all looking for someone to organize them and create a plan to counter EastClan’s. After an agonizing moment, he recognized that sensation as anxiety. Fishbone was not a social cat by any means; in fact, the last time he had so many eyes on him was when he was made a warrior only a pawful of moons ago. So to have so many of his Clanmates watching him made him as nervous as a frightened kit.
But Fishbone did have something of a plan, and it would be stupid and selfish of him to keep it to himself just because he was afraid to speak in front of them. There were five warriors here, including himself. “Alright,” he sighed after a moment to collect his nerves, “here’s what we’ll do.” He gestured with his tapered tail to the sloping fields of tall grasses where Scatterstar likely laid in hiding. Keeping his voice low so as not to be overheard, he meowed, “Cobratail and Eclipsesun, the two of you guard the side of the camp next to the fields. Don’t go running off to find Scatterstar—we don’t want to give away his location. If an EastClan cat so much as points a whisker in that direction, tear their fur off. When the coast is clear, one of you go find Scatterstar and stay with him in case an EastClanner gets wise and sneaks past you.” Fishbone wanted the oldest of the warriors to take care of this task, hoping the two cats would be able to handle any threats.
He turned his orange-amber eyes to Lightningfur and Poisonthorn. “The three of us will track down Ripplestar. We’re the youngest and smallest, so we can sneak around the battles. And Poisonthorn is our best chance at finding Ripplestar.” It was true; Poisonthorn was in the group that initially scoped out the camp, and may have even seen the EastClan leader. The likely better choice was Freezecloud, but Fishbone had yet to see her. The nervousness Fishbone initially felt crept back up on him, causing his voice to tremble when he asked, “Does this work for everyone?”

Eclipsesun nodded, glad that Fishbone was willing to take charge of the situation. No one else seemed to be doing anything. He nodded when he and Cobratail were asked to go guard the fields. He ran off in that direction as quickly as he could, heart pounding in his chest. This battle had to be won by NorthClan. They could not let EastClan win.
He stood guard, daring any EastClan cat to come near him. His eyes were blazing with fury. "Let's see them get past us," he growled in a low tone. He was ready to defend his Clan leader with his life.

Lightningfur nodded, surprised at the young quiet cat. She had never seen her clan mate take charge, let alone speak up. Her light ginger ringed tail lashed out as she received her orders. Looking to the other two cats she turned and ran into the battle, making sure to keep her belly scraping against the blood stained grass.
With her shoulders hunched together and she lowered her tail to make herself look weakened and defeated. They had to find the leader! Her pricked ears were the only things on her body she kept visibly alert. Ripplestar had to be somewhere! He was the leader! Or was he hiding like Scatterstar? "I pray we find their leader before they find ours." she hissed clawing her way through the scrabbling cats.

Scatterstar kept down low in the grass, hidden with his spotted pelt within the brown colors. He growled, he was only able to faintly hear the louder noises coming from the camp. The EastClan cats knew these lands better than he did, and they could probably navigate to find him. His fate rested in the paws of his warriors now.
"Don't fail me," he growled quietly. He knew that none of them could hear him but he was desperate now, waiting only for the victory calls of his Clan. They could not lose this battle, it would be the most devastating loss that his Clan had ever suffered if they did. He didn't know how many of his warriors were still alive at this point.

Hawkpaw turned his head and saw the gathering of cats quickly disperse. Clearly the small tom had been giving the others orders. Watching them carefully he saw two go and guard one of the exits from the camp. Why..why would they do that? Either they were making sure no cats escaped, or they are hiding something. Something important.. Hawkpaw dared a glance at Mossfire. She would have to defend herself now. The young tabby tom pressed his large frame against the ground and attempted to skirt around the battle unseen. He had to know what was out there.
Getting closer he saw the two toms in their places by the fields. He hissed to himself that his large frame and dark pelt couldn't give him much cover. Maybe they would be so caught up in approaching enemy cats they wouldn't see him.. maybe.
Hawkpaw pressed himself as low as he could, the trampled grasses dragging through his pelt. He was close to the two toms now, and could scent them individually apart from the others.
